LF: this exact set up

Per post 4 in the thread:

"The tank was made by Aquarium Obsessed. I had it 'overbuilt' with a 1" bottom pane for additional strength / surface area."

The first Bing result is a thread about them possibly being out of business.

I think lots of people tend to get nice rimless tanks from Miracles (Canada I think) or a Lee Mar tank from So Cal Tropical (I think Bob got his there, but don't quote me).

C'mon Shane, you know you want my BioCube.

haha I want to sell off my big tank and get a 90 gallon or smaller and have a size i can manage and not overtake my time and house. I love the big tank but it's just too much for me.

It seems like Aquarium Obsessed is out of business every link i clicked.

I was looking for rimless tanks quite a bit before I got my acrylic tank. I think LeeMar and Miracles sounded like the best bets, but shipping is brutal. Glass Cages is an option too, but I've generally heard bad things.

thanks etrnalreef but I'm looking for the rimless, braceless look. That is a good deal for someone looking to buy a 90gal

My first thought is for a quote on a custom. How about Keith Grandt in Sacramento, Signature Aquariums. Hear good things.

As for premade with not the exact same measurements, try the Elos 120s. The tank you are looking at has the same style of Elos with their overflows.

Ada tanks will be another option. Both tanks are nicely made with Starphire or low iron. Maybe a custom LeeMar.

How about DIY?

Hope that helps.

Shane,

I bought a 48x30x20 Leemar with Starfire glass from Socal Tropical Fish for $850 during black friday sale. It's normally $1000 owe and it's rimless. You might want to come take a look.

Cheers

Hey Bob

I remember your tank; I was at the house when you did the switch over. I'll be sending out some measurements in the next few days to get some feed back. I wanted to do an external overflow for more space in the tank and easier to clean but i hear Leemar will not make an external overflow tank.

Here are the measurements i have in mind: rimless, braceless starphire, black back with external overflow. 36L 24-26D 24-26H. 2 drains and 1 inlet. I may do a seaswirl for the inlet. But it may not look good with the rimless look.

I have two rock structures I want to keep from my 180. Both are 22inch high.

Rimless question: Do snails crawl out? do you have to be super careful not to splash the water out when cleaning the glass? I just figure the rim gives a bit of extra coverage to keep the water in the tank.

Ive had snails crawl out of my rimless a few times when I first got them, but they always crawled back in. But they have not been out in a while; at least what I have seen.

And yes water splashes out easily, so need to be careful when cleaning the tank. It helps to have the water line down a couple inches from the top.

That's gonna be a sweet tank.

Have you considered a 'BeanAnimal' overflow? Search RC for it if you want more info. The original concept used an internal weir. With a rimless and external OF it seems like you could just do a large section of the back a little lower than the other sides for the OF.
