Those idiots are going down... Their faces are really clear to make out on the surveillance video.

yea what a bunch of morons. no masks, no gloves, and left the camera's storage devices of the film there? dumb dumb dumb! and to top it off they went to the most expensive corals and took them so that gives the detectives a tip that they are reef enthusiasts, they know the lay out of the store so they had to have been there before along with other local reef stores, since there was no gloves worn there should be skin left on the cement block when thrown, left finger prints every where in the store, clear pictures of their faces and what ever they touched, foot print on the door they kicked in, fibers from their shirt that touched the tanks when leaning over on them, can see clearly what type of clothes they wear, the list goes on and on. they will get caught due to their sloppiness. it is IMPOSSIBLE to enter any building without leaving something of yours behind. theres no way for them to get rid of all the corals so they have to be storing it some where. hopefully the cops can piece together the puzzle in a timely matter to pin the criminals. my criminal justice major sure pays off. lol

that's top notch reporting...reef connection???? I saw "reef creation" at least five times in the video. I hope the owner gets his stuff back in one piece.

LOL sounds like you've done this before!

lol no just a college student taking criminal justice as a major. last year i took a crime scene investigation class and learned a lot. as a final we had to get into groups and investigate a mock crime scene of a homicide. we had to collect evidence, write a full report, the whole nine yards. it was probably the best criminal justice class ive ever taken along with the interviewing and interrogations class. you would be amazed what you can learn in college lol.

That's all fun in theory, but this wasn't a homicide. I'm sure they won't be collecting fibers or skin cells from the brick to perform DNA tests on some coral thieves. Unfortunately, the sad truth is most burglaries go unsolved. Even if they get caught...what are they going to do, send them to prison? Yeah, right.

My company was burglarized 3 times in 2 months 2 years ago, along with a bunch of our neighboring businesses. The guy's girlfriend was pulled over with our tools in her back seat and went down for it. He turned himself in so she didn't get it pinned on her, but he walked out of the police station a free man after he wrote a statement. He did end up spending 7 months locked up, but only because he couldn't make bail. Imagine the fact that after he got out all of our neighbors got hit again, and again, and again. They don't mess with us anymore though, not since they were masking up behind our building and I called the cops because I was watching the cameras from home. My point is, even if they get caught (which I hope they do), they will hardly pay for this unless they have extensive records. And they'll do it again to somebody else.

yea your right there wasnt a homicide taken place but these are simple steps that are taken into consideration for every crime scenes not just for one specific crime. my point was to give my defense to the individuals that were skeptical about my post earlier... thats Very interesting in your case and sad to see people get off so easily. but you need to take into consideration that every case is different. in this particular case you need to look at the amount of money and products that was stolen. with this much money lost makes this burglary a felony. and since the burglary was planned not spontaneous it takes the burglary to a higher statue. the multiple actions that were taken to make this burglary creates multiple / harsher charges. what ever actions took place at the time of the burglary the police will act/investigate accordingly.

unfortunately in the case you were involved in the police probably articulated a less harsher punishment then what it could have been or possibly gave the criminal a deal if he plead in court. like i said every case is handled differently. some times in your favor some times in theirs. just keep in mind that most criminals that get caught will commit again and it will eventually catch up to them. in the long run when ever they get out of jail they will barely get a decent paying job with the record they built for themselves. it all pans out and if they commit another crime after all this they will serve most of their life in jail. that my friend is the criminal justice system we have here and yes there are loop holes but its probably one of the best justice systems in the world.

I know, I just don't see the state spending that much money for the forensics on a crime that didn't cause an injury, etc. I wish it was economical to do that type of investigation for all crimes, but it isn't. It's just the way things work.

And just to put my story in perspective, they stole upwards of $15-20K in tools, the next time they smashed laptops and computers for no reason, so both crimes became larceny and were not a matter of petty theft. That's why I now have a $35K surveillance and alarm system, and basically unlimited funds to ensure the security of our property and equipment.

They are going to make the mistake of Putting the photos, and info up on there tank, and there "corals" that they recently acquired, and get caught. They Were Deffinately Hobbyists, they knew what they went for when they went in..

ok....$20k in cash, stuffs and corals? how much cash? why leave so much cash in register to begin with....why no alarm system if there is so much at stake right? He can easily rig his controller (reef one) with a door switch and send an email alert ..

I don't think there was much cash, the way the OP stated it, it sounds like $20K in cash, plus corals, plus hard goods. I think it was intended that cash, corals, and goods in the range of $20K was stolen. Alarm system would be smart though...they had cameras, why no real alarm? I know we opted for both.

yea i agree with you and they probably wont go to that extent because of the $$$ to send evidence to the labs. its sad that most of us end up being the victim of stupid people's choices. i live in the hood right now across the st from a drug dealer and i have to deal with his drama he brings to his house. ive seen guys run into his house at gun point robbing him and i have to move to the back of my house and pry that a shoot out doesnt happen and hit my gf, me, or my dogs in the cross fire. its very unfortunate for us to deal with criminals that some times get away with crimes and we suffer from. its just sad.

It wasn't 20K in cash, it's the combined total of everything they stole. The coral they stole was high end, but the really high end stuff was left alone. They also stole some LR and some lights. Most small businesses in the area don't have security systems here. I live about a mile away from ARC. This is kind of a rare occurrence in this neighborhood. The police did print the place, so if they have a record, they'll be saying hi to bubba.

Foscam sells $99 each, works awesome PT ..i have one myself

My best bud lives in buffalo, I just sent him pics from the video to see if he knows those kids and can give any info. What low lives. They should shove a few torch corals in their pants on their way to the jail when they get caught.
