LFS in Normal??

It's still a bit of an unknown, as the owner is not responding to any attempt to contact him. The power is off. The majority of the dry goods were gone as of Saturday. The City of Normal Code Inspector served notice that the store was not to be occupied again until all things were brought up to code. The sign simply says, "Closed." As for anything truly official, there is nothing. As for evidence, without Guy coming forward and setting the record straight, all things suggest that The Mad Reefer is no more.

I am personally hoping for the best, even if that is merely an e-mail, PM, or phone call that confirms the fact that the store is out of business. I likewise hope that I am the only person who got caught in their closing. Unless this is all just a huge misunderstanding, I'm out about $1600. So, yea, I'm rooting for this to be just a huge snafu.

Peace

Kevin

I saw Guy at Wally-World today, but didn't have the balls to approach him about it. I just guessed that we'd all find out in due time. Kevin, man, $1600... I feel equally sorry for you, as i do them. I'd just hope that when they sold you all that, that they didn't know they were going under(if thats the case) Good luck!

What if I were you I would sit at that store and hope he comes there and I would kick his A$$!! haha Well good luck with that, hopefully he will atleast contact you about it and do something.

So anyways is there any other stores besides this one??????

There are other stores:
Pet Supply Center
It's over by the Palace theater, not sure of the new address or if the # stayed the same or not.

Premium Pet Supply
1500 E Empire (K-mart/Circuit city shopping center)
Bloomington
662-2153

Marine Aquatics
106 Young Dr (by Kroger and DQ off College Ave)
Normal
454-1108

I think that is it. Petco, Walmart etc don't count as they are not 'local' but a chain/whatever.

Offhand, I believe Pet Supply Center is 405 Bronco Drive, Google Maps puts that address in the general vicinity of it. It is in a little industrial park type area right by the airport control tower.

Yes it is there but it is kind of hard to find if you don't know the area. They have one sign on the main road pointing in its general direction. Last time I was there, the only thing they had was freshwater fish. The salt tanks were empty.

They have some salt up now when I went last friday that had some salt fish, still not lit over all the tanks though.

My fiance is from up there, so the only decent one has closed now??? I was interested in checking out the LFS up there... Would I be better off going to Chicago???

I think it is inappropriate to steer people away for visiting the remaining LFS's in town.
They might not be all that, but it is still unfair to the owners.
If it is inappropriate for others to comment on there experience at a local retailer, this is definately a no go.

Ooops!

Ooops!

Well, if that's the case Lego, I've been inappropriate the last few days commenting on the Reefer. Didn't know that was an ethic in here. My apologies to all. We work best as a community when we abide by the norms. I had planned to keep the board posted of my experience, good or bad, with this current quagmire, but now understand that probably isn't the best of ideas.

Anyhow, thanks for the heads up to a newbie!

Peace

Kevin

That's pretty funny coming from you, Louis.

I've been to several LFS in Chicago. They blow away the remaining stores in B/N. If a person were to make a special trip just for LFS, I'd certainly recommend driving further north.

Difference was you with what you said in reply to his post you implied that you should not go to ANY of the LFS's in town. I posted a FACT stating that I was yelled at when I went to TMR.
NO WHERE did I say or imply that is was not a store worthy of going to.
You overreacted when you jumped my a$$ thru private e-mail about driving business away from TMR by posting my bad experience, you are driving business away by posting NO FACTS what so ever.

Period.

I have defended Guy on a few other occasions in other threads, and hell if he was open would gladly go back. The problem is this is not the case.

No where did I post about trying to contact him for several days prior to going to the store on Sunday, receiving no response to my voicemails, nowhere did I post that I called the store 6 times before I went in the Thursday I bought the fish to find out if he had one in stock.
Being yelled at by someone in the store was overboard regardless of the circumstances.
