LFS in Stillwater?

I was wondering what fish stores there were in Stillwater? I have a friend there that can't find much to go to. Any suggestions? It doesn't even have to be in Stillwater, just something somewhat close.

Thanks~

I looked at the LFS map and didn't see anything... hmm. Is there another map other than mycomas.com then click on LFS? I don't seem to have as good of a handle on the site as other people.

Has anyone been to Aqua Mart? Or any other suggestions?

I knew it would be something simple, and sure enough... I look like an idiot. Good thing I'm used to it, or that could have been embarrassing. :)

No, there are a number of people that have missed the "store group" selector. Someday I am going to integrate the map into the main site more and rework it a bit, including making that selector more obvious....

Yes, there is AquaMart in Stillwater, but in all blunt honesty, it's not even worth stepping in the store for. They stopped carrying saltwater stuff because of lack of interest, and their prices are outrageously high. Nothing like a used 50 gpd RO unit that needed filters to be replaced for $300. There is also *shudder* Petco. Between the two, there really is no "lesser of two evils". It is well worth the 65 mile drive to Edmond to the nearest "good" store. Heck, it's worth the drive to Wet Pets in Norman from Stillwater. If you prefer Tulsa better, it's the same distance, and from highway 244, Aquarium Oddballs is the closest. But, if you are in a pinch for things like food, I actually prefer AquaMart. You can pick up frozen Mysis and Cylcopeeze there, while Petco only carries Vitamin Enriched Brine Shrimp at the best. Also, Petco's 160g Buckets of Instant Ocean run $62.99 at Petco.

Go to Edmond!!

Of course, they could always make the rounds and pick up a frag here and there from the rest of us reefer types.

Aye. Very true.

Well, my friend is in freshwater right now. He's trying to buy sand to set up his gf's 1st saltwater tank. They came down last night to Norman just so we could take them back to Wet Pets and he could buy a couple cichlids. Yeah, he's got it bad. Which is good. I just wish he had somewhere closer to go to. He said he goes to a place owned by a guy named Fred. Is that AquaMart?

Yeah, I think Joe (my friend) said he was a little worried he may go out of business. He said that he thought times were a little tough for him. Joe gave him a couple oscars and he's selling them for like $15. Which is a lot, IMO.

Last time I went to Aquamart they started selling saltwater again. This was back in September. The LR they had was solid red. I'm not sure what type of hair algae it's called. They also had a few different types of damsels and every now and then would have a puffer.

I went about a month ago, and they quit. They were trying to sell what little they had. Their holding tanks were filled with hair algae, and all the rocks were covered with thick Cyanobacteria. They do still have a couple animals left. I think a Cinnamon Clown was $16.99. Not that bad of a price because he is trying to just get it out of there.

I went to AquaMart last week and they have nothing saltwater. There is a LFS in Ponca City that is alright. They don't have a huge selection of saltwater, but they can order. They do have more freshwater. They have frozen food, aquariums, and lots of the basic supplies *filters, water jets, salt, etc.). They are a little expensive, but they are the only game in town so they can be. Very nice people and answer all of my numerous questions. I did get an anemone there that died and they gave me store credit. They are not just for fish but all types of pets. Well, just another thought.

Any chance you can track me down the information on that LFS in Ponca City? Address, Phone, Hours, Website, Email, Year Opened, and anything else of significance is great....

Then I will add it to the COMAS LFS Map. Thanks!

Sure

The owners name is Ron Davis. He is a great guy. Very patient LOL and helpful.:lmao: I am not sure how long the store has been open, but I know that it has been there for at least the last 8 years, because I have been using it that long for one thing or another.
