hey everyone i thought it would be cool to start a thread where everyone can see what fish stores are having sales so post if u know of any. i just left aqua life aquarium in rocklin and they were taping up flyers for the sale they are having this weekend. 10 percent off all saltwater fish and inverts and the guy told me about an email newsletter that informs u about weekly shipments and specials for the people that drop there email. so let me kno of any other sales. im new to the hobby and broke as a joke

Most LFS don't have "regular" sales so its a hit and miss subject. Odds are if its on sale, what you want will not be.

My best advice would be:

1. Buy quality used equipment rather than new, "lots to be desired" equipment. Even if you buy new, the little more you spend is piece of mind you gain.

2. Buying a lot at one time, most LFS will deal with you a little.

3. Network on ReefCentral, you would be amazed at what you can find from local reefers. I have found most are VERY generous.

However, this is an expensive hobby that has been known to suck paychecks out of wallets and drain bank accounts, anything you save "sale hunting" wouldn't make much of a difference IMO.

That must have been quite a move. I've moved 2 tanks in the last few months and couldn't imagine trying to move a 300 gallon tank. Welcome to the area!

WOW...this is a tough crowd LOL... The guys at Aqualife do have great deals on fish. The stores around Sacramento are pretty damn good actually so you could do a lot worse for a reefing community. We are more than happy to have you, and if you are interested in saving some dough we are having a MARS garage sale next month where you can pick up all kinds of used goodies for cheap!!!

BTW- Have you at any point been a member of the Communist party?

Welcome to RC and MARS!

FWIW, I have only purchased a couple items there, but have always found AquaLife to be very flexible with their posted prices (hope I don't get any employees in trouble). You would be amazed how many places/people are willing to negotiate on price; even retail stores.
