I am new to this and was wondering why dont u all use lids on your tanks?I do to stop fish jumping out andhelp keep evapouration to a minimum.

Oxygenates the water more and gives my house that great ocean smell...that is until I empty my collection cup

Gas exchange is good in reef tanks. Helps maintain pH and the like. If you are worried about jumpers you can use eggcrate or diy a bird-netting mesh top.

Sounds like a good idead and i now understand. I love learning new things. Anyone have a pic of netting that they use.
