Life rock from used tank

I'm considering purchasing left over rock that was recently pulled from a tank. It's sitting in drums with salt water but no circulation.

It has only been 4 days or so. Will this present any problems or have die off? I want to put it in an existing tank and am worried about mini cycles.

What size tank you putting it into? How many pounds are you putting in ?

Possibly 50lbs extra into a 60 cube. Cube is almost half full.

I would think that much would cause a mini cycle for sure. Thats alot of rock to add to that tank. I barely have that in my 60 cube total.

I wouldn't risk it.. not worth it.

Way too much to add at once. If you want all that rock in your tank I would add 10lb every 3-4 weeks and keep a eye on your parameters.

Even though it was fully cycled?

Well if it's been awhile without circulation it could have caused die off and die off will cause your tank to go crazy

leave the rock in a barrel with a powerhead , test ammonia and nitrite. If die off causes a cycle you can you can cure rock in the barrel. Or toss in a dead shrimp to get things going.

If its nice rock at a good price may be worth the wait
