Life Rock question

I was in a LFS and saw that they had Life Rock in a tank with their other live rock. Wouldn't this be counter productive?

I thought the point of Life Rock was to introduce good bacteria to the system while avoiding things like mojano and other pests that can be introduced with wild gathered rock.

You mean the CaribSea Life Rock was in the same tank as other LR? Yeah, that is curious. Especially since CaribSea Life Rock was designed and packaged to be sold dry.

Maybe they had some nearing it's expiration date (yes, they have expiration dates on it) and decided to chuck it into a tank.
