Lifereef siphon tube

I just received my Lifereef prefilter overflow for my 29g tank. (It looks like it is built really well, although it is larger than I had visualized). I will be using a 10g sump to hold my Tunze 9002 skimmer and a refugium. I will also be running an Eheim 1250 externally to save room in the sump.

Lifereef sent the 1-1/8" siphon tube with the overflow. When I spoke with them on the phone pre-shipment, I was told I would receive a narrower tube due to the low flow from my pump.

Question 1: Will the 1-1/8" tube work, or will it collect air and lose the siphon? (I will have about 3.5' head working against the pump).

Question 2: Will a 150w Sunpod MH be adequate for almost all critters, or should I consider a 250w? Heat and/or bleaching are concerns.

Thanks!

1 1/8" is a lower flow tube, on all my old HOB overflows i used 1 1/4" and they'll work fine down to about 250gph and only occasionally get an air bubble trapped but it takes a week or so of no attention before it would get large enough to even be a concern with breaking siphon, all you have to do is giggle the u-tube and the bubble will break into smaller bubbles and wash on through.

150w will be fine on a 29g.

I would try the 1 1/8" tube. If it doesn't collect any air, you are good. If it does, switch to the 3/4" tube.
