light acclimation

Just purchased some coral frags that includes a birdsnest. I have the coral in the sand, but am wondering if I should go ahead and place the birdsnest high up since it needs high lighting. I typically leave new frags in the sand for a couple of days before moving them into their location for acclimation. Thanks in advance.

Light acclimation is necessary if your lighting and the frag's home lighting are different. So starting low and slowly elevating makes sense. If the lighting scheme is similar in both tanks, then I generally don't. You can't go wrong with being patient and allowing for light acclimation, unless of course if your frags fall before reaching their intended location
