light at night

I have been thinking about this for a while and I dont think I ever read about it so here goes.

I have my tank in my living room and at night I get worried that turning on the lights in that room will mess with the tank. I have been using tank towels to cover the glass but I have seen many tanks out there that I imagine are much to large to cover up.

should I bother? I mean they get lots of night time when I get to bed but at the same time going from dark to bright light and back might be bothersome.

thoughts ?

Not anything you should worry about unless you have fish that like to jump and you go from a totally dark room to lights on. I had a tank with a light switch right next to it. One night I got up and turned on the light and scared a small puffer that liked to hang out in the corner of the tank next to where the light switch was and it jumped out on me. All I noticed was a splash of water and then I hear this sound coming from the floor by my feet like a squeaking sound. I looked down and found the little puffer down there! I put him back in and was a bit more careful when turning on the light there afterwards.
