Hello,

Is the Profilux II Lightbar compatible with the Simu-L Effects Light bar? I'd prefer to use this unit as I only need to control lighting and it would be considerably less expensive than using the entire Profilux system.

Thanks!

Hi

Yes the Simu-L and Simu work with the profiLux Light II controller ;)

You can slso run Tunze streams from it and dimmable lighting if you so desired.

Thanks for the response. So, if I'm only looking to control 4 plugs, is there any advantage to going with the full Profilux system? Seems to me I'd save quite a bit of money by going with the lightbar.

also, do you recommend the LED lightbar (in red or blue?), or the dimmable sunrise/set/moonlight LED spot for simulating storms?

Hi

This really depends on what you wish to achieve. if you have no interest in Ph control or other paremeter control other than lighting, Tunze and temp control, then the Light II is perfect.

if you wish to do more than this either now or in the future, I would grab one of the full GHL kits for $599 quickly, you then would be eligable for the ProfiLux 3 upgrade kit if the kit and the controller pack were ordered together before then end of this month.

In regards to whether simu spot or simu stick, it depends on the tank, if over 3' you are best going for the stick, if over 5' I suggest two spots one either end

I'm really just looking for a few more outlets so that I can control my lighting and heating. I would say 6 would be ideal as it would allow me to phase in my T5s, have some storm simulation (main reason for GHL over something else), and control my heating.

Thanks.

When you say outlets do you mean plug socket outlets or 1-10V interface outlets?.

At present you can have up to 10 x 1-10V oultets and with the P3 the number goes up to as many as you want.

With the sockets you can with the PII x24 and this goes up to over a 1,000 possible with the P3 using the new PAB power bars

maybe i'm confused....i was interested in this:

http://www.ghl-direct.com/proddetail.php?prod=PL-0385

however, I will need 3 sockets for my ATI PM (2 for lights, 1 for fan), and 1 socket for the SIMU-L effects light bar. That doesn't leave me any room to expand for my heater, or anything else down the road.

Is it correct that I can use this unit without the $599 Profilux II controller?

Sorry for all the questions and confusion, and thanks for all your help! After all the quick responses I'm sure I want GHL, just want to be sure I get what I need!

Hiya,

here to help, please feel free to ask as much as you need i will always answer swiftly (unless I am asleep ;) )

The Light II is a lighting controller in the main and can not be extended on so if you are just looking for light control and temp control then this unit is perfectly, there are solutions to add the extra socket you may require if you dont mind them switching on together, however the unit will not interface with the ProfiLux Plus controller range.

I would strongly suggest going for the profiLux Plus II pack for $599.00 you can do with this all the Light II can do and way more!! And has all the sockets you need.
