Light color

What is the best color light to use to grow macro algae I have seen white , red

I've been checking this out at the LFS. They have had great success with a pink (Kessil A80). There are supposed to be some interesting articles online that support this.

You're probably going to get a lot of different answers. I believe daylight, around 5500K is the best for macros. Most macros grow in shallow water. Some of the reds grow in deeper water, so they may do well in bluer light.

I tend to run my whites 10% more than my blues, since I cranked up the intensity it seems to have helped.
