Light for a 35gal Hex.

I'm looking to switch over my 35 gal hex freshwater tank to a reef tank. I have not been able to find a light for it. Any suggestions out there? It's a tall tank so I know I'll have to run a metal halide light. I'd like one with the actinics in it as well. Thanks.

You can go DIY or check out any of the sponsored links and find just what you're looking for. I'm going to be shopping for lighting myself this summer, so don't have much experience with anything you're shopping for, but the one thing I've learned is that if you're willing to spend money on something, someone out there is willing to sell it to you.

LFS told me today an Aqualight 20" PC light would work just fine. This tank is about 24" tall. Anybody else got any ideas?

I had a 35 hex and thats a deep tank for a pc light in my opinion. I ran a 175 watt metal halide and that worked well. I would look into the current usa sunpod fixture. they have one thats 20" with 12 led lunar lights and a 150 watt HQI MH. they run for about 275 new I think and you can get one on ebay for around 200.. Id stick with a metal halide for that tank for sure. I would say look into
t5 lighting but I dont think your tank size would match up with any fixture..
