light moving bar on DT??

I saw a frag farm (LA fish guys I think) video and they had a light bar (track) that moved the MH fixture back and forth over their frag tank. They said it did not affect growth rates and the color was more even because the frags were illuminated from all sides. Would this work on a DT? Are these devices loud, ugly, or otherwise objectionable for a family room?

Do a google search for light mover and you will find them. Fishy Business used to have some over their coral tanks. Not the best looking things though.

Yeah +1 on that they are slow moving not the Quietest and are Ugly to say the least. They were popular Many years ago and have since fell out of favor IME

bart, im sure you could rig something up that could do the job, but honestly, I dont see the benefits outweighing the noise and headache.

they make them better now. worms way in rivergate has one in there green house. but in a tank it will just look like a spot light going across your tank. i was going to do it with my 180 build but didnt like the spot light look.

Look on Marine Depot for Sunlight Supply Light Rail 3.5. I am thinking about these for saving electricity on lighting since I saw the Lafishguy video. I might be able to get away with far fewer light fixtures and watts. I haven't seen one in person, but they didn't appear to be making any noise on the video and the microphone was right next to them. The Sunlight Supply site has the new ones with adjustable timing.
