Light Rail

I am curious if anyone has personal experience with using a light rail on their tank. I am thinking of installing a light rail with a 400 watt halide on my 220 gallon tank (72 x 24 x 30). My main purpose for using a light rail is in an effort to save money and prevent as much excess heat as possible, by not using multiple MH lights. If anyone has experience, good or bad, please let me know as I am curious about how well this will work.

There's an article in the Jan/Feb Coral magazine that addresses this. It is a good way to save money on lighting energy use and replacement lamps.

Unfortunately, I do not subscribe to Coral magazine and have not seen that article. While I am interested to read it, I am also interested in first hand experiences from other reefers.

A friend of mine was using a light rail. I thought it was pretty cool. It worked well. His tank looked nice.
