Light spillage from ati sunpower

Well folks i have a rimless tank in the works and i was going to put a canopy on it. The thing i want to know is if i decide to go with no canopy how bad is the light spillage from a ati sunpower fixture. I will try to have some metal pipes bent to a 90 degree angle and suspend the fixture from it. The whole 75g setup will be in my living room and i wanna know if the light spillage is bearable or a pita. Thanks for any feedback everyone.

I have to ask, why get a rimless and then put a canopy on it??? That kind of ruins the whole rimless thing.

With an ATI fixture you can go shorter on the fixture and control light spill. For example, putting a 36" fixture on a 48" tank.

I initially wanted to go rimless. However, the light spillage from my PM was too much. It would hurt my eyes when I sat in a couch nearby. Worse I was afraid of my kid looking up into that light.

I ended up building a small canopy for my tank.

@rtparty- I initially intended to go rimless but as of late it has been a back and forth decision. Rimless is cool but i just like the option of being able to put a canopy on it if the light spillage bothers me. Also i found out about i could use a shorter fixture when using an ati but only after i bought the 48" sunpower so now its just what i have to work with.

@MentalNote- Yea , I'm kinda in the same situation with kids. I'd hate to leave the room inly to come back to them staring at those strong bulbs.
