Light time?

20 gallon reef, lots of LR, softies, green star polyps, and a few leathers, 4 fish.

I currently have my lights on about 8 hours a day (from 2 Pm to 10 Pm). These are a PC, with one tube a "white" and the other an "actinic".

Is 8 hours enough? or too much?

Any advice?

im new to this hobbie but ill share what i did and am doing...
i started with a complete 5 week dark cycle...then turned lights on 10 hours a day..was too bright was concerned about algae etc..all i had was lr etc..i then reduced it to 6 hrs a day and my clean up crew was fine..i then made it 8 hrs when i had a zoo in there a ric and goby pistol..my zoos started looking crappy. oops i forgot to raise the light..MY 14 gallon oceanic is now on 12 hours a day and everyone is sooo happy.

actinic for 1 hour then 10 k pops on...then 10 k off and actinic 1 hour (soo they think its night time coming and can relax doesnt shock em..then after both actinic and 10k are off (totalling 12 hrs) the lunars come on for 3 hrs... Hope that helps gl!! Even though im new ive done tons of research and have a lot of good experianced friends helping me..i would raise em up to 10-12 hrs at least...
