i have the crapy aquatraders light.

i am considering a new ballast because the one that the light came with is a potential fire hazard.

the ballast now runs 175 watt HQI bulbs.

if i got a 2 x 250 watt ballast could i run 2 250 watt bulbs? without doing anything to the 175 watt sockets?



-- does my question make sense? the fixture came iwth 175 watt bulbs. if i get a ballast that can do 2 250 watt bulbs can i just put the 250 HQI bulbs in the 175 watt fixture?

dont change anything (if you change you are looking at a fire hazard also)

just throw it away ands get a new light

Usually the ballast are fine, it's all the other componants that burn.

If I'm not mistaken the 150w and 250w HQI bulbs are different sizes. If thats the case you couldn't do it anyway.

Agree with Farmer...throw it away and get a new light....you usually get what you pay for in this hobby...just research it a bit first.
