Lighting and Breeding?

Okay, 16 hour time periods aside, are there any benefits to creating dawn and evening cycles, where the light slowly turns on, or off? Are there any fish that need this to catalyze spawning events? What about moonlights, are those also good for catalyzing breeding?

"unless you are going to simulate moon phases I would either turn the lights off or just leave the faintest bit of blue moon light." Someone told me this.

Honestly if you have a timer you should be good. I also have 16 hr photoperiods
