I have a 96 watt light 50/50, and a hang on the back filter. Do I need to get any other kind of sand other than live sand

No. Live sand will be sufficient.

If you have a large tank, you don't have to buy all live sand for your sand bed, since this is expensive. You can buy dry aragonite (if you can't find it, Southdown) and make up the difference, and just seed it with a few cups of live sand. This is a cheaper alternative if you need tons of it.

Now what's your question on lighting and filters? Will it be a FO (fish only) tank or a reef tank with corals? If it is to be the latter, you may want to reconsider the HOB filter choice.
