Lighting and Sun corals

Silly question,

Sun Corals, being that they are non photosynthetic, do they need any light?
I have a sump that at this point in time only gets indirect lighting, its very dark down there, and thats were the pods like to play, would my sun coral be happier in the sump?

No, they do not need any light, but certainly be kept in lighting if desired.

I've never kept one in a sump but your situation sounds fine as long as they get enough moderate flow. They may even catch some food down there. But it seems like it would be more difficult to enjoy them in an in-cabinet sump.

this is my set up, 15gallon tall with a 10gallon sump, but i would put the water volume at 20gallons, i decided to put the sun coral in the main display its in a medium light location for my tank...
