I have a 150g reef. I have almost all soft corals except a candy cane coral and 2 others I dont know what they are. My tank is 29" deep. I currently use 3 -400w MH bulbs to light it. I was thinking of getting a different light to save on my 250 dollar electric bill. Any suggestions?

The MH heats up the water turning on my chiller which heats my house which turns on my ac. They all are fighting each other....

You could absolutely go with 250W halides. If you go with HQI and use a proper HQI ballast you'll also get more output than with the electronic ballasts. I have 250W HQI in a 36" deep tank and I have some SPS around the middle of the tank that seem to be doing pretty well. Now, you won't be putting acros on the bottom but...for what you have you should have no problems whatsoever.

I don't know how much money that will really save you though...it might be less than you think.
