Lighting for a 150?

Ok so I got a friend that wants to upgrade his current lighting scheme of all PC's over the tank. He wants to go metal halide but doesn't know what kind of bulb and ballast and wattage he would need to successfully keep SPS corals and clams etc..... I think the tank is like 36 inches tall and like 4 feet long and 2 feet front to back. He wants to go with like 2*250 watt moguls, but i don't know if it will be strong enough for that deep of tank. Any sugesstions?

250's will be much better than PC's for that size tank. I would confirm the measurements though because that is a really tall tank. I would probably go with two 400w bulbs if you plan to keep anything medium to high light in the lower part of the tank.

Ah, if your other measurements are correct it would be 30 inches high (48x24x30h). I think 250's would be fine in that case.
