Lighting for Sps T5 or Mh

i was planning on switching over to the ATI 60" powermodule T5. Im currently running 3 400w Mh and 3 60" vho on a 60x30x24. I just wanna know the difference on lighting. pro's and con's of each. Every little info would be appreciated. thanks

i went from a 2x250w halide setup to a 6 bulb t5, and i couldnt be happier. less heat, cheaper electricity, colors are nicer and good growth.

the only think i miss is that shimmer effect. if i build another tank, it will again have t5's. just my opinion as i have seen awesome tanks with both types of lighting.

Yeah I have seen many tanks that are awesome with both Mh and t5. I just dont wanna spend the money on the powermodule and not be happy with it. I mainly house Sps and the growth is fine with the MH. I just have dark spots in some areas.

I had a powermodule- you will not regret getting the fixture, they are beautiful. I ended up going back to halides for the look of the tank, mostly shimmer.

What reflector are you using that you are getting dark areas?

I would go with metal halides.

Nicer tank appearance IMO - better shimmer and better growth.

i just have the regular spider reflectors

all the dark spots are under the sps/acro. My sps start to die out where there is no light

You might want to also consider better halide reflectors, like lumenarc or lumenmax elite- they will give a FAR better coverage than the ones you have now.
