Lighting help needed for nano tank

Hello everyone,

I am setting my 10 gallon tank back up after a long time. I am having someone help me in the next couple of weeks to add an extension sump/fuge to the back of the tank. My question is I wanted to move from 36 watt JBJ pc system to LED.

So far it seems that I will do one of the rapid led kits.

The tank is 22" long and 12" high.

So if anyone can help me answer a couple of questions it would be greatly appreciated.

1. How many LED lights do I need to keep sps if I wanted it? I dont know if I can get away with a 6 x 1w and add a couple extra if needed or just bite the bullet and get the 12 x1w kit or do I need more LEDs. I did not look at the 3W kits.

2. What color combination should I get. I dont want it really really blue like 20K, I like the look of 10-14K. So if it was 6 bulbs do I do a 4 royal blue to 2 white and on the 12 bulb 8 rb to 4 white? or is it best to do 50% ratio or any other color combos to get a good spectrum for growth? Does it have to be an even ratio or can it be odd ie - 7 rb to 5 white?

3. I know the kits come with optics, do I need these and what are the benefits? If I dont need them, does anyone know if rapid led will let me sub them out for any other components if I get the kit.

4. Can you use computer processor heatsinks? Thinking about gutting my jbj pc housing and lining up the pc heatsinks and attaching the led's in there and the jbj fixture already has 2 fans in it - any thoughts?

Rapidleds seems to be the best deal I have found so far, if anyone has any other recommendations please let me knw. I am not a DYI'er but want to try.

I will do arduino and get another dimmable driver for the blue's later to have finer control, just keeping it to minimum right now and researching this for later.

Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me answer some of these questions

Mickey
