So I'm setting up a 11.5 gallon shallow reef, The dimensions are 17x16x8 on the display section. Corals will predominately be softy/LPS, but my goal is to eventually get a maxima clam. My question is do you think I would get enough PAR from a Kessil A80 in a 8" tall reef placed right under the light or would I need at minimum the Kessil 160WE. I know the Prime HD is an option but i personally like the shimmer of the kessils. Any input would be great.

An A80 is not suitable for clams or any other light demanding creature..
Even your corals won't do well with one on a tank that size..

I believe its under 100 PAR even directly under it..

The Kessil 160 would work much better. I have the Kessil 160 and the AI Prime HD I prefer the the AI Prime HD and they are on sale right now if you can still find them.
