Lighting help

Well, I figured I would take a chance and try the lights on ebay. I got them today and they look pretty good. The light output seems a little less than my 400W but I think they are a little better than the 250W ones I had before. I will have to do some par readings on them. The color is about what I like. I haven't taken them apart but what I can see through the vents the build quality seems pretty good. They run very cool and I noticed the heat coming on twice in my basement(where the tank is). It hardly ever came on with the MH lights on before. I think I will really see some energy savings in the summer time when the AC doesn't have to run as much.

My 3w Cree LEDs are about $200 more the reefkois. Each 3w are driven at 1.26w x 119 = 149.94wats so I say 150wats of power.
24" tall tank and fixture is 10" above the waterline and my par is 260-300par at the sandbed.

Did you measure this Zef? How many LEDs in the fixture?

Crees driven at 3w only give about 200 par max directly under on the sandbed of a 21" tank. Being driven at 1.26w, I would very seriously doubt they would hit 260 to 300. Maybe with optics, but they'd have to be tight and even then, they'd have a hard time.

What are the details of your fixture?

Brandon
