ok so right now im using a regular tank light for my corals. im running a 55 gallon. here is the issue, i plan to upgrade to a bigger light. It has 2 - 54w actinic blue lamps and 1 -150w Metal halide and 2 blue LED moon lights and is 36'' long and the tank is 48''. is this enough light?????? i have a frogspawn colony, a green star colony, a green button colony and a few scattered mushrooms. they are all positioned in the center of the tank towards the top.

should be fine for what you have now. when you put in the new light it might be good to reposition the corals lower down, and run the lights for just a few hours - esp the MH. Ramp up the time slowly over a couple weeks or so to acclimate the corals and prevent the possibility of bleaching. After that you should be able to reposition the animals where you like. Thinking ahead, if you want to think about SPS or clams in the future, 250w instead of the 150w would be a good move. just keep an eye on the GSP under that kind of light - may try to take over the tank. Good luck!
