is 2 400w mh to much light for a 110g or would it bee fine if i just rise them up high, and if so can someone tell me the right hight to see if i have clearance in my hood.

you def. don't need 2 400's for a 110. I would say 250's would be just fine. if you've already got the 400's though then I guess you could use them, u'd just have high electricity bills as you'd be running more through the bulbs...and more through the chiller to keep the tank at a decent temp. if you did 20k bulbs though you would get awesome color with good par.

all in all...they'll work...just a little overneeded in my opinion.

i have a 65g wit 2 250 right now and i would luv to use them but i dont want to break down my tank until i have the other running fine. cause i have no place to put my fish.

I don't think it is too much at all, I am not sure how deep is your 110 but generally 110gal tanks are 29-30" high that is what my tank is except that mine is longer and I need 3 bulbs as suppose to 2 bulbs

Ciro,

I just installed 2 400w 20k MH on my 110 and I love it. The only problem is getting enough fans and or a chiller to accommodate the heat. The color is great there is no need for other lighting unless you want.

I have 250w's on my 120 and I think it is oo much light for LPS. I think it all depends on what you have in your tank. I have several colonies of rainbow aussie acans that have lost thier green and yellows due to being under 250w, and they are towards the bottom of the tank. When they were under 150w they were just find for several months.

so u are running 3 400w on your 110. the one i want is 30 deep i belive. it is the standard size. i think.

No, I don't have a 110, mine is a 375, however, both are the same height. I use 3 bulbs you should only need two

On the 110 I would go with the 400s since the tank is 30 tall. The 250 might not have enough punch after about 24".

Rogger's tank is plenty bright enough with his three.
