lighting question

just wondering if there is some sort of formula our guideline for how much lighting on needs to keep certian corals and clams? I have a total of 372 watts of light on my aquarium. I heard at one time somebody say 5 watts per gallon?

The light from a intense source like metal halide will penetrate deeper into the water, so it depends on the tanks depth and where the coral or clam is in the tank. A lot depends on the lights refector too.

75 gallon which is 18" deep and I have about 70+ pounds of live rock so I could elevate them.

Yes you can, I'm not the expert though. Always research the coral or clam you want. Some clams prefer sitting on the sand bottom, some like to be up in the rocks.
