Lighting question

Can someone explain in layman terms, what is actinic lights?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the blue side of the light spectrum--which simulates deeper ocean reefs.

actinic is 420nm.
it's is a purple light that willmake ur colors come alive more.

I've read about the 420nm and about it being a purpleish/blueish light. Does this mean that if I were looking at MH lights, I should be looking at anything above 14K? This is where I'm getting confused.

layman terms....Blue lights, they make the coral more pleaseing to look at in most peoples eyes.
