Lighting question

Hi,

I purchased my 150 HQI Aquaspacelight from you for my 37G and I'm happy with it. I want to upgrade the lights on my other tanks
specifically a 29G AGA standard and a 125G AGA standard. Would 4 150 HQI Spacelights be the way to go, 1 150 HQI 10k for the 29G, and 3 150 HQI 10k for the 125. I wanted something that runs fairly cool and has a good par output / power ratio. Would you recommend the 150 Spacelight with the Eballast or the Oceanlight magnetic? Also would it be possible for a discount since I would be buying 4 lights.

Thanks,

-Mike

Hi Mike,

A lot of it will depend on what you want to keep in the tanks. The 150's should be plenty if you are keeping it pretty much to a mixed reef, with most of your high light animals on top close to the lights. If you plan on going sps dominated though I might recommend going to the 250's.

For the style of pendant you use the Spacelight's are a pretty good bet. They have about the best spread of any of the DE pendants, and give off very comparable light output to the Reef Optix 3's and PFO Mini pendants. The eballasted model will give off slightly less par than the magnetic ballasted units, but probably not enough to really make a difference.

The Oceanlight is going to give you the least amount of light output between the two. The reflector in this unit is not as efficient as the Spacelight unit either. It is also only available with a magnetic ballast that is remotely mounted.

The 150 Spacelights were just ran on special for $249, which is a GREAT deal on them right now. They are available in either 10k or 20k models, or we can switch them out to any other brand/kelvin bulb you would like to run and you would just pay the difference.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Jeremy
