Lighting Question

Hey everyone,

I'm getting ready to set up a custom nano tank. The tank's dimensions will be 12wx13x7 high. It's a custome tank pre-fitted with sump/return and small fuge are.

My question is regarding the lighting. I was looking at the Viper 250W clip on as this will be a topless tank.

What I didn't like was that there were no actinic's or moonglow lights.

Does anyone have any thoughts or any other ideas? Again, because of the size of the tank, and it being topless, I'm assuming I'll need to stick with the clip on lights as hanging a pendant is not an option.

Thanks in advance.

Holy crap...That's a lot of light for a 5g tank. :eek1:

Why so much?

I had the tank made at an LFS who specializes on reefs. That's the light he suggested.

Seems like major overkill to me. IMO, you'd be facing major heat & evaporation issues. I'd go with a 70W MH at the most.

Ok, thanks for the update. Would I have the same problem if I went with the 150w?

Only asking because I need it to be clip on

I'm beginning to see that. I guess I'll go with the Viper 70w?

Does anyone have any other suggestions as again, I believe it needs to be clip on because of the topless?

If this is not the case, can anyone suggest anything? I was hoping to be able to have the actinic's too! i won't push it with the moonglow's as well!
