Lighting questions

Alright, with all the DALI talk and what not, I got to ask a few questions.

I have a 72 x 36 footprint tank (300 gallons)

I was hoping to use 3 8-bulb ICE CAP retrokits to light it.

Using all dimmable icecap ballast.

I am wondering if these in fact would be controllable (simulations) by the profilux.

Also, what additional accessories I would need to accomplish this.

The reason for going with icecap ballast was the ability to run 4 bulbs off each instead of 2 that the GHL ballast are limited to.

Hard to say, icecap doesn’t make any ballast they just rebrand them so if you can find the manufacturer it might be possible...

Simple answer - NO

Ice cap are not 1-10V analogue externally controllable or are they DALI

they might be DALI compatible... hard to say, might have to do a bit of research.

I use the Profilux (sylvania) ones and I have been Very happy with them.

I did have a bad one but I just replaced it yesterday
so now all the bulbs are running again.

Hopefuly I can return it for warranty replacement.

The dimming capability of the Icecap ballasts, from everything I've read, is a complete joke. The only available dimmer for them is from Sunlight Supply, it doesn't work with T5s (only VHO), and even then it is extremely unreliable and usually ends up in the death of the ballast. So yeah, forget about dimming IC ballasts.
