im currently looking into upgrading my lighting on my 55g aquarium its 24'' deep, 30'' long.. i was considering either a

T5 HO 4-24w fixture
or a Dual PowerCompact 2-65w fixture

to replace a 55w PowerCompact..im currently running 1-65w &
1-55w Powercompact & would like to upgrade so that i could keep some moderate light SPS corals such as Porites.

wich fixture would provide the corals enough light ?

thanks for your time.

LegendLand,

Thank you for your post. For a moderate to high lighting coral such as the Porites, we would recommend a slightly higher amount of lighting than the fixtures that you mentioned will be able to provide. These beautiful SPS corals require roughly 5 to 7 watts per gallon to be healthy in your aquarium. Below you will find a couple of fixtures that will be able to provide the lighting we would recommend for your aquarium.

Aqualight Pro HQI/Compact Fluorescent/Lunar Light Fixture

Outer Orbit Pro Series HQI/T-5/LED Lights
