hey guys, I got a ? about lighting for 125 gallon. I want to keep maybe an annenome, no corals, but a fish only live rock. Whats the minnium lighting i can have? right now i have a 72watt strip with i 10000k and one actinic light. I know thats not neough but what can i get away with? thanks

Many anemones do better with moderate to high lighting. I'd probably look at a 3-bulb MH setup. What are the dimensions of the tank? T5 would be okay, as well.

its somthing like 50 long 18 deep, and 22 high something like that don't remember and can't find tape measure...i know that MH are expencive. not looking to break that bank... models and makes and all that is greatly appreciated! thanks again guys

FDNY3838, I have a 125 also. Mine is 72X18X22. I'm just running PC's to start with (still plumbing the sump). I got two sets of the 36" Current SunPaqs (4X96W). One day I might upgrade to MH's. Do most people suggest hanging 3 250W pendents from the canopy then? I agree they are expensive especially when you're buying everything else :(

You could do three Coralvue L3 mini's with IceCap/ARO ballasts and your choice of bulb. That's no too awfully expensive, I suppose. :)

yup i lied its 60 in long by 24 high and 18 deep, if that helps! right now i have 2 prob 36in 50/50 bulbs..then another daul 36 in stirp with 36w actinic and 36w 10000 k bulb prob not enough right?

Since you say you have no interest in keeping corals you can probably get away with any standard flourecent lighting for most of the tank, and get a "clip-on" style MH light for the spot you want to keep the anemone.

This will give you a bright spot in the tank which may or may not be pleasing to look at - but it will save you hundreds (a thousand maybe) of dollars in your wallet - which, I would imagine, would be VERY PLEASING to look at.

yup i could do that as well...thoes clip on mh i know what ur talking about. a 60 in strip light is insane. i'll have to look into it more..thanks for the help
