hello,my name is mark and i just joined...wanting to meet some new people and make some new friends...i have a 90 gallon sps reef and have always ran 2- 250 watt halides and just switched to 4- 110 watt vho's and 4 -28 watt t5's...i keep reading in all the books and have seen some nice sps tanks with no halides and hear that the colors can get even better than with the halides...im pushing around the same wattage but dosent look as bright but does look more uniform and puts light in spots the halides didnt..my tank is 48'' by 24'' tall and 18'' deep...anybody got any input?

One of the best SPS tanks I've seen (just recently broken down) ran T5's and VHO's and got incredible color and growth. I think he ran (6) T5's, though. This was on a 120, it's about the same depth. How long ago did you make the switch? You could see color shifts for weeks/months. IMO, some acros look better under T5's, and some look better under MH. I run MH and VHO's over my SPS tank and plan to keep that scheme.

Its Nick, Welcome! I have seen Mark's tank and al I can say is WOW. What an amazing setup. I hope to be seeing you again real soon. All is doing well and I will post pics when I can catch tank with lights on so I dont have to use flash.

you must be talking about arts tank and yes thats why i made the switch....i actually baught alot of arts corals....im still running halides over my frag tanks but ive seen to many beautiful tanks with t5s and vho....i just wanted to try it out to see if it was true about the colors ...all my sps is about as colorful as it is gonna get but i guess we'll see how they hold up...and thanks nick for the props,,i hope the sps frags i sold you are holding up strong...im gonna post some pics of my tank and sump-prop room soon...thanks guys, mark

I just switched from T-5's to Radiums. I was getting good growth and color from the T-5's but after looking at Bham's tank under Radiums, I decided to give it a try. Just got the lights set up last night so I will see how it goes.
