I have a 135 gallon tank with 3 175 metal halides and 2 120 watt power compacts and was wondering if I should use 20 k on the metal halides or 20k on the power compact and 10k on the powercompacts and vis versus. The lights are made by catalina and was wondering how long the bulbs actually last and what new bulbs i should use. The corals are just basic. thanks in advace for the suggestion.

Personally, since your only using 175w, I would go with 10k on the halides and use the compacts for actinics/20k. Especially if your going to be setting up an sps tank. You'll get better growth that way. If your doing a softie tank, It really doesn't matter.

Ditto. It also allows you to use your PC to imitate dawn and dusk. From my understanding, most bulbs should be replace in about a year. I think with t5 - you might be able to go a few months longer.
