Lighting ?

Should I ever have them totally off? This is my first ever saltwater tank I'm enjoying reading everything in the post lots of good knowledge. How soon can I add my first fish?

Yes you want your lights totally off at night. In the morning you should have some sort of actinics kick on and gradually increase intensity then have your white / bright lights come on. Then in the evening they dim down. This simulates a sunrise and sunset effect.

What kind of lights are you using ?

Don't laugh but this is what I got set up right now I don't know if I should use both or 1 that is the lowest setting on blue

I have mine turn off at 22:00 then start back at 8:00.

You'll be fine with those lights and I don't think the ramping up and down is necessary. It's a nice affect visually but my lights come on all at once and everything is growing like crazy.
