Alright....so I need more lighting 'cause I want to get some corals and polyps. I've currentylu got a 9w 50/50CF lamp. 7100K Blue/Half 10K White.

So the other day I was at my buddies room and we're playing some beer pong and I notice the brightest damn desk lamp ive ever seen.

Would this work? I believe it will but I cant find any info on the K rating. Heres the link: http://www.sharperimage.com/us/en/catalog/...t/sku__SI481CHR
I want it b/c Itd be perfect for my desktop 3gal pico

thanks

i doubt it. There's no way of knowing w/out knowing the kelvin. It has to be at leats 65K for corals to grow.

I suggest just getting a coralife 2x9w aqualight. I just got one for my 3g pico...if you want i'll find my thread about it to show you how it turned out.

yea...thatd be cool. maybe i could ask them there...they might know.

i kinda want something that isnt a clip on, i want like a free standing light like that one. and i dont have anything to hang a light either thats y im also looken for a free standing.

edit: i do the light is prob one of the brightest I have seen. its crazy

ya i couldnt hang my light either. I just got a sheet of acrylic (will be glass tho, or even a picture frame...to be determined at a later time :) ) to hold the light over the pico. I'll give you a link to the thread asking about it...

Go check at Home Depot. I picked up a Hampton Bay 27W daylight swing arm desk lamp similar to that one for $20. It's 6500K.
