Hey. I was planning on ordering this lighting fixture for my 16 gallon. I currently have the Coralife Aqualight ( 96 watt 50/50 setup) I was told by other reefers that after about 4 months it loses its light intensity. I think they are right. I would hate to have to keep buying new bulbs every few months. So I found this fixture with a close amount of watts. What do you think about the fixture? Thanks

Hi,

I think the Current is a better quality fixture and lamp then Coralife, but both are based on PowerCOmpact technology and we have found that the blue spectrum fades quickly with compacts, even though they claim they last 14 months. SO i think you'll run into similar problems with either brand. So since you already have Coralife, i would just keep that fixture. You could change brand bulbs if you wanted, but i imagine the results will be similar with any brand bulb. Most likely most of the PC bulbs are all made in the same factory.

Thanks, I guess there is no sense is wasting money. It is hard to find a VHO or PC fixture 20" that is atleast 60 watts or more.
