I have a 30 Gal mini reef tank. I am going to get a T5 light set up for it since T5s are better then power compacts. But my problem is, I am unsure if I should go with a 4 bulb or 6 bulb setup. I would like to keep as many things as possible lps and sps, but I am afraid that the sps would suffer with 6 bulbs. so would it be better to use a 4 bulb setup and just put lps closer to the top.???

the 36in T5s are 39 watts a bulb

what are the dimensions of the tank?
more bulbs allows for more bulb options.

the tank is 36 long X16 high X12.5in wide and has a 2 - 2.5in sand bed

You can get the nova extreem pro T5HO switch out the factory bulbs and get ati bulbs then you can keep sps.if you have the cash go with the ati T5 powermodule www.reefgeeks.com then you can keep any corals you want

On a tank that shallow, you could go with the Nova, Tek, Aquatinics or ATI, and keep whatever you want in the tank, as you go up the list, aquatinics and ATI, you need to create shade areas for things that don't like as much light.
