Lightining fixture for zoanthids

I am trying to decide on what type of light fixture to go with. I have a 75 gallon AGA is about 20" tall. I just want to make sure that i'm not getting a fixture that will be to much light for zoas. I'm looking at the Aquatinics 5-54watt T5 HO fixture. The other fixture I'm interested in is the sunlight supply 4-54 watt Tek light T5 HO fixture. Is the aquatinics 5 bulb fixture too much for zoanthids? Anyone recommend a specific blub combo.

I'm using TEK 8 bulb ( 54watt x 8 ) 48"... I have some zoo's and paly's lifted to 2/3 height of the tank...

6500K Daylights GE
Pure Atinic
11000K Aquablue plus
ATI blue plus
This combination x2 for me...

No yellow tint and no whitening out...

You can call REEFGEEK and they could advise you on bulb selection for your specific tank/coral needs.

Those fixtures would be fine just as long as you get a least half antic spectrum, probably more antic bulbs than daylight bulbs would look the best IMO

Hope you don't mind me asking this here, but what do you think of this fixture over a 24x24x24 with zoa's and LPS? Would that be suffecient?

Nova Extreme HO Light Fixture - 4 x 24W & Lunar Lights - 24 in.

I just added a 4x54w HO retro from reefgeeks to my 75 gal tank. It works PERFECTLY. All the zoa expand fully no matter where i put them in the tank. *mostly towards the bottom are where I have most right now, but slowly working my way up* Some are on the sand and some are 3/4 the way up.
The bulb combo and placement that I got was this:
Front
1 - 54W 11000K Aquablue Plus T5 HO Fluorescent
by Giesemann
1 - 54W 10000K AquaSun T5 HO Fluorescent
by UV Lighting
1 - 54W Pure Actinic 03 T5 HO Fluorescent
by Giesemann
1 - 54W Actinic Plus T5 HO Fluorescent

These bulbs give you a nice white color with a hint of blue. If your looking for more blue in the tank I would go with 2 Aquablue Plus instead of the Pure Actinic. I hope that helps and I will try to get a pic of my tank for you so you can see if you like it how it is or not.

T5 HO novas are not that great since they have only one reflector. Some people on RC say that they are just about the same as a compact flourescent if you don't have individual reflectors.

That might be helpful to see your tank but I'm really concerned with the 5 bulb fixture because thats the one i'm really wanting to get. I just don't want that extra bulb to be too much. I want to do mainly zoanthids some LPS and I might want a clam eventually but not sure if that will be enough lighting for a clam

I have a much smaller tank than people are talking about here, but my tank is 29 gallons with 4 t5 24watt bulbs over it with no fan and I have about 15 types of zoos in my tank along with lps and sps and everthing grows great. I actually have a radioactive dragon eye that I got last month with about 5 polups on it positioned half way down from the top of the tank and it now has about 15 polups. So I am happy with it.

Less than 100 watts on my tank :)

Ryan,

I have a aquactinics setup over my 50g 18" tall tank. Their lights are great and I would go with the same setup again if I had a bigger tank. The 5x39w over my tank is good for zoas and SPS. But keep in mind that while most zoas (palys love the light) will show well higher in the tank (4inches from the surface), I don't feel comfortable keeping my zoas up there long term.

If you decide to go with the setup here are the bulbs I went with

2 blueplus
2 aquablue
1 aquasun

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I want the majority of my tank to be Zoanthids because nothing else really catches my eye. Should I just go with a 4 Bulb fixture from Sunlight Supply? This is the bulb combo I I think i'm going to go with...in no specific order

UVL Super Actinic
ATI 12K Special Aqua blue
GE 6500K
ATI Blue +
ATI Blue +
