Lights for a 46 Bow please

Hello Everyone,

cool to see so many Floridians Reefing here.

I have a 46Bow with 50/50 Pc lights, want something Higher and better. I'll be buying or Building a Hood for it.

What lights do you all recommend? t-5's ,VHO's ? I dunno.

Also, I dont have corals in there ,yet. so should i even bother updating the lights?

I just sold my 46g bowfront....I had 2 x 250w MH SE on ICE-CAP ballast. The lights were kept off the water about 10 inches. Small fan kept the temp to 80-81 With those lights I could pretty much keep anything I wanted!!!
But I beleive (IMO) You easily do the same with a pair of 150w MH. I prefer Single ended MH.

I would go with a combo of MH and VHOs.

Tank is about 20" high with 1" sand bed.

Im actually trying to find out how I can BUILD these lights, (too much $$$, and i got other hobbies )

been reading a few of the posts on DIY lights, but wondering if any1 here has had good results from them.

Live close to HD and AceHardware, dont know if they will have everything i need tho.

Check this 36" 5 bulb T5 kit out. I would recommend these 5 bulbs installed in this exact pattern.

1-Aquaz Blue Pro 39 watt

if you already have pc's and want more id say the only way id b worth it would be to go halide
