Lights for fuge

get one of those 6500k pc bulbs at walmart, plus they have them in flourescent tubes also that are 6500k.

I use the screw in kind and get pretty decent growth out of mine, I have two more places to put lights though and I think it would be better if I had three of them in there instead.

Would'nt do it

The 26 watt 6500s are at WAlmart a 2-pack for about $8.00. They also go by daylight 6500K. The skew is 85397.

I don't understand lighting at all. Have read about it many times. I don't know whats good for what. I know 6500K bulb for fuge and 10K for yellow/white 20K for bluish color.

Never read anything about below 6500K. Just checking in.

It is no doubt confusing

This may help but it is a bit long...

Some folks just simplify things and say 10K or 14K but what they really mean is 10,000K and 14,000k.

If you wanted something a tad bit better, and just a bit fancier, try an LOA fixture (Lights of America). You can get them at HD. Uses a screw in sort of bulb, but it's a 65 watt bulb in a reflector that you can mount.

I did get mine from Doc Roy, and it works great. Bulb is about $28 to replace, so not incredibly expensive, plus if you are just growing Chaeto, you don't really need to replace.

Went last night to the walmart in Edwardsville, told the wife I was getting us paper towels and pledge, how she did not see through this I have no idea. Unfortunatly all my wally-world had was phillips light bulbs on CF. None of them noted what kelvin rating they had. Evern open the packages to look on the bulbs.

Will be checking the wal-mart here in ballwin/manchester today to get some of these.

dert what wattage is that halogen and where did you find the 6500 I had this idea but hated that I could only find yellow light! Does it seem like it is more light and grows better than compact florescent screw in's?

The reason I ask is because of those xenia I have down there now if I could get more light then I would love it thanks.

5500k or 6500k screw in powersaving floodlights work great. $8 at HD. when they get salt creep on them you can wipe them off. the sipral ones that are not floodlights will burn out fast due to salt creep.
