how long should you have the lights on for the tank
i have the white lights on for 8 hours and
the blue actinic for 8 hours
about 4 hours they are on together

What kind of lights? All of my lighting schedules are less than 7 hours total. I would say start the actinics 30 minutes prior to the daylight bulbs and turn them off 30 minutes after the daylight.
