is it true that there is a system of lights that simulates te day and night and dawn etc...
Is it true? Does it work fine?

You can get actinic and/or lunar lights. Many fixtures now include lunar lights, and actinic can either be put in separate fixtures or included 50/50 in multi-bulb fixtures. These usually offer separate power cords to allow you to control them separately.

Lunar lights can be used at night to simulate moonlight, and with the room lights off give you just enough to be able to observe your inhabitants. Many people with actinic lights put them on a timer to come on an hour before the white lights and stay on an hour after, to simulate dawn and dusk. Some have reported that corals react better to this than having the bright day lights pop on.

I don't have much in my tank yet, but my night snails get active with the dusk-simulated actinic only lights.

And whats the name of the lights that simulates the whole day and night? So I can search where i can buy them. many many thanks for your responses. Carlos

i'm in the same question boat too....i just purchased a VHO setup...Icecap660 ballast, 2 super actinic URI bulbs (46.5"), 2 aquasun URI bulbs (46.5"), wiring harness, endcaps, and standoffs...now im debating leaving my PC actinics in the canopy to simulate dawn/dusk since the VHO's will be run off one ballast and cant be controlled separately...grr...my next purchase will be a set of led moonlights...ive got an led flashlight and shining it straight down into the tank makes awesome shimmer lines :D

Are you talking about the Solaris LED light systems? They probably have the best daylight cycle simulation, but they cost some serious $$$.
