Ive come to realize thru years of being around some forms of tanks, a lot of the hobby is about patience, and exactly how much is determined by individual risk assessment. Just as some people refuse to fly, or swim in the ocean, I am trying to establish my own tolerance.

I have accepted and becoming willing to qt all incoming fish. Right now my tank is on week 5 of fallow period, and will be going at least 3 more giving me 8 weeks. All fish will be quaranted minimum 6 weeks.

Ive set aside the resources to run a 75 gallon quarantine, however I am not so sure I will be doing that for coral, inverts etc.

What are the anticipated odds of bringing ich, velvet, etc, in thru coral?

I wont be adding any snails, I have a few already in the fallow tank, and the risk of adding more seems more detrimental then the benefit of having more.

However, sps frags, how high of probability do you stand? Obviously, if there is an ich outbreak from the tank you are getting the coral from, well then that's just playing with fire.

Continued...If the chances are high, similar to that of fish, then it seems that quaranting the fish seems all for not, if they are just likely going to reacquaint with the ich anyhow.

Not being combative, or playing devils advocate, but for me, a qt tank for sps, with appropriate lighting, dosing pumps, flow, is not in my cards.

This all depends on where you source your corals from. For me it will have to be a place that has NO fish present in the tanks or frag tanks or grow out facility. If you wanted SPS you would only need a light, ATO (or you become the ATO) and water changes. A cheap pump would suffice for flow for the relatively short time corals would be in the said tank

I too just started pulling fish out of my DT because of ich. I'm doing TTM 2 fish at a time, and then putting them in a 55g. I plan on leaving the tank fallow for 13 weeks just to make sure everything is gone.

I also bought a little 6g frag tank from ebay with a built in overflow and return section. I am leaving frags in for 13 weeks at a time. After this whole thing happening because of a hammer coral I didnt QT, I refuse to put anything in the tank that hasnt been fully QTed.

Understood. I think this go around, I will do fish prophetically, coral from tanks with no outbreaks, and start feeding live black worms.
