This is what was on my 29g.

And here's a canopy that one club member made for his tank using T5 lighting.

Melev....alot of these canopy/hood diy's are too short for my halides...even 1"x8" pieces after the .5" loss from covering top edge have my halide like 4" away from water?

Any suggestions?

Here's one more that I forgot about. It isn't a flip up, but you could put a hinge on it to do so.
